I have a compulsive need to bring more color into the world. As far back as I can remember I have been an artist, coloring and drawing on anything I could get my hands on. More recently, my main focus has been on life and reality itself. I try to express objective reality in all of my paintings. I am fascinated with the idea of the ‘beginners mind’ and attempt to observe life with total openness and without any preconceptions.
Using flowers to represent new life and color to express excitement and inspiration, I create a world that allows the viewer to experience reality without any deception. I often reflect on a line said by Lauryn Hill - “Fantasy is what people want, but reality is what they need”. We become so accustomed to our lives that we can often miss out on new and exciting things, even if they have been there all along. It is my job as an artist to spark that curiosity and desire to discover.
